• Entanglement at the rotating chuck or rotating pipe — loose clothing, gloves, rags, jewellery, or hair drawn in → severe degloving, amputation, or fatality
• Foot pedal failure to release → unable to stop the machine in an emergency
• Slip on oil-coated floor → fall, secondary injury
• Cooling oil dermatitis and contact sensitisation; mineral cutting oils classified as long-term skin carcinogens
• Inhalation of oil mist → respiratory irritation
• Cut or burr injury from threaded ends and swarf
• Crush injury from pipe whip or pipe rotation if not properly clamped
• Electric shock from a 240 V machine on an oil-contaminated floor
